The program proposed for the redevelopment project aims to maintain the architecturally significant buildings on the campus, while adding carefully considered new structures that achieve an appropriate mix of uses to enhance and strengthen the adjacent neighborhoods. While the final program and mix of uses will emerge from an extensive community planning process now underway, the preliminary plan anticipates a mixed-income community of limited-equity cooperative apartments, for-sale condominiums, and SRO housing for very low income individuals together with indoor and outdoor community space, educational and office uses, and new community-oriented retail along Centre Street. Planning and permitting will proceed through the summer of 2006. |
